Not new, just good. Chicago Hard House Bad Boy Bill.

Bad Boy Bill - Falling Anthem feat. Alyssa Palmer (Herve s We Are A Beautiful Disaster Remix) HD by Sarah bear

One of my favorite electronic groups ever. Bag Raiders turns this Monarchy tune into a catchy Nu Disco masterpiece. A little slow to start, then it starts to boil.

I Won't Let Go (Bag Raiders remix) by Monarchy

If you don't like dubstep then skip the next two. This song is dirty-aggressive. I was listening to a 8track mix title "Filthy as Fuck" at work when I came across this song. I like it. The people commenting on this mix were wild and described it in the following ways:

"After listening to this your gonna feel more filthy than if you masturbated in a landfill to child pornography."

"It's so trashy, I feel like I made myself a mumu out of cheeseburger wrappers"

"I just realized I had a boner while looking at my mom's facebook pictures while this playlist was on. Job well done..."

bratkilla - masturbating flesh collector (original mix)-scmt by kirad

This jam is straight up dubsex. It's abrasive, screechy, and I would advise you not to listen to this song with headphones. get it.

Doctor P - Big Boss by Big Daddie xD

This track is so dirty. I remember meeting Theophilus London a couple years back at a 'Passion Pit' show in NYC. He's tall as shit by the way. Lazersaurus was lovestruck with an instant mancrush. Anyway, I just felt like posting this after seing GDD highlighted him in a recent post.

GLASNOST - "CORRIDOR"

I'd like to thank Chuck Costello, the manager of Glasnost for sending this over. I tried to post the "Midnight Conspiracy End of An Era Remix" a couple months ago and blogger rocked me with a DMCA takedown. BAAMM!! Thank god he did, because the original version is phenomenal. Glasnost released this jam under Robot Dance Records in March. Truly an addictive groove supplemented by great vocals highlight this track. The official remixes are great too... keep a look out for their new album "Decade", which is due to drop in early July.

Done Hibernating

Ladies and Gents. Mr. Smooth is back! Its been ages since I tossed anything up here, but that doesn't mean I haven't been keeping atits of all the music making going on. I am very switched on about the coming summer and witnessing the birth of some new dancefloor legends. On that note -

Check out this teaser of the upcoming Alan Braxe/Starsmith summer wet dream:

I know I haven't posted in forever. Sorry for that guys... job, life, winter you know how it is. The good news is that show season is here and I'm excited for some great new music this spring and summer.

I had to check this song from Death Electro out solely for the artist and title. While Mustard Pimp is highly regarded and relatively well known in the electronic world, I can’t say I’ve ever heard of Jimmy Urine. “Money Shot” opens with the following lyrics. “I’m drinkin’ alone at home and savin’ all my money. I’m jackin’ off tonight so I don’t need you honey… That’s the money shot.” Overall the song is one aggressive piece of electro. It’s catchy enough and the lyrics are so outlandish that I give it a decent rating.

A little more on the mellow side, this jam from Beni opens up something like Groove Armada’s “Paper Romance” with that low persistent baseline. Then it evolves into a much more complex tune with some simple lyrics looped over it.

Beni - Its A Bubble (The Magician Remix) This is available for free from keepreal.org through itunes (click the link to reroute to the download page).

This song found on Vacay Vitamins is very upbeat, fast paced, and great for a dance floor. The interesting part about this song is that it is essentially six minutes of buildup that never really drops.

Tom Hangs feat. Shermanology - Blessed (Avicii Edit)

While I do like the Klaxons, I wasn’t thrilled with the release of their new big single “Echoes”. It took a little Steve Aoki retooling to get me into this jam. Completely different from the original and somewhat strange in the beginning of the song, the new variation of the chorus gets you into this remix.

Klaxons - Echoes (Steve Aoki Remix)

This weird little dubsteppy number is the offbeat jam of the week. I don’t even know how to describe it.

TV On The Radio - Will Do (XXXChange Dancehall Mix)

Midnight Conspiracy nails this remix of Glastnost on the head. This house monster booms so turn the volume up. Thanks from our friends over at Aerial Noise.

Alan Braxe lends some great spacey tempo to yet another intoxicating Ellie Goulding remix.

Ellie Goulding - The Writer (Alan Braxe Remix)

I’m sick of hearing the original on the radio. This Villa remix found on GDD is way better. If you’re going to listen to this type of raspy disgruntled female caterwauling then at least make sure the beat behind it is good.

Adele - Rolling in the Deep (Villa Remix)

Weird Spring

This has been a weird start to spring. The weather, the imminent threats and unrest around the world, that enormous moon...shit, in the same week, New England has seen everything from beaming sunshine and 70 degrees to hail, sleet and snow. As many of my posts are inspired by the tone of the season, the music here is inspired by weirdness, in one way or another.

NewVillager might be one of the weirdest/most intriguing groups that I know. They have only released three songs up to this point and their music is inspired their own mythology which is based upon a ten-part cycle exploring transformation, adolescence, and the formation of new ideas. I know. Weird. I was a huge fan of their previous 2-song release, Rich Doors/Ghengis On. This is their third release and it is fantastic.

NewVillager - Lighthouse Link removed by the man! Check it here on YouTube.

James Blake is gaining some serious ground as a popular, weird-ass musician. His music is a mix between dub from 2080 and noises from the Matrix. Say what you will but, it just somehow works. Here, Lucid Rhythms inserts a nice beat backbone and turns this great, yet weird track into a head-nodder.

James Blake - Limit To Your Love (Lucid Rhythms Remix)

This song is only weird in the sense that it took Fleet Foxes four goddamn years to release a new album. I love this song, this band, and all their weirdness. Listen for the Simon and Garfunkel influence.

Fleet Foxes - Helplessness Blues

Last summer, I blogged about Providence, RI-born/Brooklyn, NY-based band Javelin. Rhode Island is a weird yet awesome place, and its influence shines through on this weird yet awesome group. Here they remix Warpaint's "Undertow" with a thick beat and some seriously weird effects. Enjoy.

Warmth is just around the corner! Go Outside!

Can't get it out of my head

This track crushes it beyond belief. Zero 7 adds a heavy dose of 70s glam t0 Mos Def's smooth lyrics. Mos Def is at his best here, and I apologize that I could not find a link for you all. Regardless, this song is worth a listen over and over. Don't be surprised if this is stuck in your head all week.

I am a little short on music today, so I thought I would kick in some of my favorite work from UK Street Artist Banksy. Banksy is known for his smart commentary through stencil like grafitti. He has recently been working around LA and I think you'll enjoy some of his work.

Many write him off as a vandal, but others consider him the Andy Warhol of our time.
